Welcome to our Restoration Home for women. My name is Thobile Mnisi and I am the centre manager. I have had the wonderful opportunity to serve in this ministry for four years. My three sons and I have seen God transform many lives in a great way.
Broken lives have been made whole through the Word of God. One of my highlights is not only seeing women restored but also seeing families reunite. I enjoy every moment with the women and I especially enjoy, being a part of the great work that the Lord is doing.
Elusitweni Women's Home seeks to protect and empower women and their children who are suffering physical and sexual abuse in the home, school or work place. The centre works to make a difference in individual lives through providing physical, spiritual and emotional care and support to abused women and girls based on Christian love and compassion.
Elusitweni aims to empower and educate the community to support the victims of abuse and encourage community members to see domestic violence and abuse as the responsibility of all, and therefore to take affective action against abuse.
Our residents have been mainly abused teenage girls from the age of 13, many of whom have been pregnant. Working with minors whom have been severely abused brings interesting challenges. We rejoice at the opportunity to help and celebrate the victories.
Founder, Glenda Stephens, carried the vision of a shelter for women and children for ten years before she was ready for God to make it a reality. In September 2007 the first resident was accommodated at Elusitweni Help Centre. Now, the centre is lead and ran by Thobile Mnisi, who is fully equipped with love and patience. The vision of Elusitweni Help Centre is to see abuse diminish and families made whole again; to ensure that children who are vulnerable and hurting are ministered to before they get involved with drugs, crime or promiscuity; and to educate communities about the love of Christ and how to live in victory.
